Use this form to provide information about the selected object.


Icon
The icon that represents this object.
To select a new icon, click this field, then click the icon you want from the popup. To see a fuller list of icons, Control-click (Windows, Linux) or Option-click (Mac) this field.
You can also change the icon at "Res ID".
object type and size
Objects with a type of File are uploaded files. They can't be viewed directly, but can be downloaded to your computer.
For containers, this area also displays whether they are originals or links (aliases).
Name
The name of the object.
In the case of a message, this is originally the sender or recipient.
Subject
A description of the object.
Category
Any category that is useful to you.
Keywords
Keywords that describe the object. Separate each keyword with a space.
FirstClass can search for keywords without having to search content. This speeds up searches.
Where
The path to the object.
For containers, this is the path to the original.
Creator
Who created the object.
Created
When the object was created.
Modified
When the object was last changed.
Expires

When the object will expire and be deleted.
Expiry period

The length of time before the object will expire:
Default
The number of days defined by your administrator as the default expiry period.
Other
If you choose this, fill in "Days left" to specify the expiry period.
Days left

The number of days in the expiry period:
If you are defining an expiry period
2102006_35208_0.png Only applicable if you choose Other at "Expiry period". If you choose another value, then enter the number of days left, FirstClass changes "Expiry period" to Other.
The number of days you want as an expiry period.
For existing objects
The number of days left before the object expires.
If the object will never expire, this field is blank.
The value Expired means that the object will be deleted in the next trash collection, as scheduled by your administrator.
Character set

The character set used when the object was created.
View
Where the object will be displayed:
Default
Places the object in the default location for that type of object (for example, a message goes in the lower pane).
Upper
Places the object in the upper pane.
Lower
Places the object in the lower pane.
Toolbar
Makes the object a button on the toolbar.

Hidden
Hides the object from view.

Res ID
The resource ID of the icon.
To change the icon, enter the new resource ID.
Icon position
The icon position when the pane is in an icon view:
Horizontal
The number of pixels from the left side of the pane to the object.
Vertical
The number of pixels from the top of the pane to the object.
Unsent

Whether this object has been sent.
Stationery
2102006_35208_0.png Doesn't apply to containers.
Turns the object into personal stationery, which serves as a template for new messages.
Unapproved
Makes the object unapproved.
Unread
Whether you have read this object.
For containers, this indicates whether the container has items that you haven't read.
Auto open
Makes the object open automatically if it is unread (or contains unread items).
Auto open is triggered by someone opening the container in which this object is located.
Icon position locked
Keeps the object from being moved within the container.
Read only
Prevents the object from being changed. You can move or delete the object. In the case of a container, you can't add objects inside it.
Protected
Prevents the object from being moved to a different container or deleted. Objects are still subject to expiry. You can change the object. In the case of a container, you can add objects inside it.
