The Import/Export utility is a wizard that walks you through importing or exporting question and/or test files to/from the FirstClass Online Testing (FCOT) application. It imports or exports one file at a time, and only supported question types are imported/exported (True/False, Matching, Multiple Choice, and so on). Imports/Exports What FCOT imports and exports tests and questions Aiken imports questions GIFT imports questions QTI Lite imports questions, text format only WebCT imports questions SCORM imports SCORM package Note The files are stored inside the FCOT folder, in the Import folder or Export folder, depending on the actions you take. FCOT format files are stored in one of three formats: • questions (.fcot) • test (.fcott) • test and questions (.fcottq) When exporting files from FCOT format into FCOT Txt format, the resulting file is put in FCOT > Exports > FCOT Txt. When importing files from FCOT Txt format, the files are put in FCOT > Imports > FCOT Txt before processing starts. If you plan to import or export multiple question files, click Back after each import/export to return to the appropriate screen and import/export the next file. Select Import or Export Select whether you are going to import or export questions. Dialog box A Dialog box below the Import/Export area displays the status of the import/export and what is required. It also displays Previous and Next buttons. Options The Options button is a toggle button between the options screen and the Wizard. Click it to view or change the options, and then click Wizard to return to the Import/Export utility wizard. Skip/Prompt      When importing a file where the filename already exists, Indicate whether to prompt the user before importing or exporting files, giving you the option to overwrite or skip files. Post Processing Indicate how to handle the source file after the import/export. Delete removes it from the machine, while Move to Folder stores it on FirstClass in Online Administration. The default is Delete. Reports Indicate whether to generate a report in HTML format after the import/export. If HTML is selected, the report is emailed to the user. Importing/Exporting From the main screen, click Next and follow the wizard prompts to import or export question files. Source Format Indicate the format of the source file you are importing or exporting. Source Type Indicate the type of source you are importing or exporting (tests only, questions only, or both). Source Choose the source file from the list or drag and drop the source file into the appropriate box. If importing, you can improve performance by putting the source file in the respective subfolder of FCOT > Imports in advance. Target Format Indicate the file format to import or export the source file to.
